3 Things to Create a Simple Home
Jun 13, 2024NOTHING about running a home + family is simple. It's more complicated than I could have ever imagined. I've got multiple people + schedules to track. Everyone feels all kinds of emotions at different times. Then I'm supposed to regulate myself while teaching my kiddos to regulate themselves. It's not a task for the faint of heart.
I heard recently that "simplicity is the hardest to achieve but the easiest way to get to an outcome." I agree. If your outcome is you want to feel less frantic + frazzled, simplicity is the easiest way to get that outcome.
When you're able to take a complicated task + make it simple, it's much easier to follow through. How you can do this in your home? What parts seem too complicated about running it? How could you make this simple? How could you make it SO simple that everyone in your home, even your little ones (with some guidance), could do it?
If you want more peace, unity, teamwork + quality time, what can you simplify to make that INEVITABLE?
Here are 3 things to consider:
- Minimize, minimize, then minimize more. The average home in the US has over $300,000 items in it. That’s A LOT. No wonder you feel overwhelmed + spread thin trying to keep track of everything. So get rid of things + take care of less.
- Set up a simple organized system where EVERYONE takes responsibility for their things. Gently coach + teach your family how to use the systems, but if it seems to be too difficult, be okay with adjusting it.
- Create tidying habits that everyone in the home participates in routinely + often. Everyone lives there, so all adults + kids work together.
My life is more manageable because I'm creating a simple home. One that is intentional + sustainable. You can too. Start to pay attention + let go of things that aren't helping you reach your outcomes.
